On December 28, 2013, Burma 150t/d float glass project general- contracted by CTIEC successfully drew the onion once and put into production smoothly.
Fired on December 1, 2013, this production line is the first float glass production line in Burma. This project fills the gaps in Burma float glass and further processing glass. Local government pays high attention to this project and the president of Burma will be present at the opening ceremony of the project on January 9, 2014.

سامسونگ کارخانه شیشه سازی در چین احداث می کند


احداث کارخانه شیشه سازی سامسونگ

به گزارش روابط عمومی پایگاه خبری فن آوری اطلاعات ایران از رویترز، کمپانی بزرگ سامسونگ با مشارکت شرکت Corning در صدد است تا یک کارخانه جدید شیشه سازی در چین راه اندازی کند.

با توجه به گزارش های منتشر شده توسط خبرگزاری رویترز هزینه احداث این کارخانه نزدیک به ۶۰۰ میلیون دلار برآورد شده است. این کارخانه قرار است تمرکز خود را بر روی ساخت شیشه های مخصوص صفحه نمایش های TFT-LCD قرار دهد.

اگر چه هنوز صحبت های مقدماتیدر این زمینه صورت گرفته و مراحل نهایی کار اواخر امسال کلید می خورد اما مکان این کارخانه به احتمال فراوان Wuxi New District منطقه ای صنعتی واقع در ۱۲۰ کیلومتری شانگهای است که محل کارخانه های بین المللی فراوانی است.

کمپانی Samsung Corning Precision Materials قصد ندارد تا تولیدات خود را به صورت انحصاری برای سامسونگ عرضه کند بلکه هدف این شرکت با مسئولیت محدود بازار کره جنوبی است.

در حال حاضر این کمپانی کره ای شیشه های Corning’s Lotus Glass را برای صفحه نمایش های OLED تولید می کند که می تواند جایگزینی مناسب برای شیشه های به کار رفته در صفحه نمایش های OLED باشد.

Guardian Marks Its Second Float Glass Plant in Russia

With Event for Customers and Local Officials

Krasny Sulin, Russia and Auburn Hills, Michigan -- September 19, 2013 – Guardian Industries celebrated its newest float glass plant, Guardian Steklo Rostov, with a Grand Opening Ceremony Sept. 5 for customers and friends. The plant is located in the Krasny Sulin district of Rostov, Russia, an area close to Sochi, home of the 2014 Winter Olympics.

More than 400 customers, company officials and special guests, including Rostov Governor Vasiliy Golubev and Nicolay Alshenko, the head of the Krasny Sulin district, attended the celebration that included tours of the plant and dinner.

“We have enjoyed strong support in Russia from both the local government and a wide variety of customers, and it was exciting to welcome them to the plant,” said Janos Egyud, managing director of Guardian Steklo Services.

Guardian Steklo Rostov is Guardian’s newest and largest float glass plant to-date, producing close to 900 tons of glass per day.

Guardian operates float glass plants all over the world on every major continent, but our largest facility in the world, and one of the largest in the industry, is the one right here in Krasny Sulin,” said Lajos Sapi, vice president of Guardian Flat Glass, Europe, during the opening ceremony. ”It also has our most advanced vacuum coater platform, a high technology marvel, that allows us to manufacture high performance, energy efficient glass for schools, businesses, hospitals, homes and other buildings.

The vacuum coater produces ClimaGuard Solar glass providing thermal insulation and sun protection for residential applications, and will soon begin producing SunGuard High Selective advanced architectural glass for commercial applications.

“Our sales programs at the new plant will focus on providing these value-added glass products to the southern Russian and the Eat Ukrainian regions,” added Sapi.

The $240-million plant is located 957 kilometers (594 miles) from Moscow in the southern part of Russia along the Azov Sea.

The plant has more than 300 employees and is a major contributor to the area’s economic development. Guardian was the first corporation to break ground in the Krasny Sulin Industrial Center, an initative supported by the governor.

This is Guardian’s second float glass plant in Russia. In 2008, Guardian began production at its plant in Ryazan, serving the greater Moscow region.

“Guardian is bullish on Russia, given the sustained growth at our first plant and the customers we have in the country,” said Guardian Global Flat Glass President Scott Thomsen. “We are making steady progress in developing our presence in the region. The Rostov location is a good fit for Guardian’s growth strategy to supply glass to Russia and neighboring countries.”

Egi MJG Float Glass, a joint venture between  Egi Community, Mara Group, JS Group and Ghani Group will build a $210 million float glass manufacturing plant in Nigeria.

The production facility in Rivers State will produce 500 tonnes of float glass per day. It will cost $110 million in the first phase, and $100 million in the second expansion phase.

Prashant Manek, Director at Mara Group, said: “Today’s groundbreaking is a first step in making Nigeria self sufficient in terms of glass manufacturing.”

“As a result of the strategic location and the locally available raw materials, we are highly confident that we will be able to build a world-class, cost-competitive facility.”

According to Ali Siddiqui, CEO of JS Group: “Since the year 2000, the global float glass industry has experienced strong growth.

Kyrgyzstan plans second flat glass line

Interglass plans to start up a second flat glass production line in Tokmok town, Kyrgyzstan.

"We plan to increase the production capacity of the plant by 15% and to build a new line in two years,” explained Vladimir Steinert, Founder of Interglass.

He noted that €36 million was spent to reconstruct old equipment. “The glass manufacturing plant existed in Tokmak in Soviet times. In 1999 it was declared bankrupt. In 2002, it was launched again, but after some time was stopped for modernisation. At present, raw materials for glass production are delivered from Russia and Kazakhstan, and mountain ores from Kyrgyzstan,”

The NSG Group is to close architectural float lines at plants in Sweden and Italy.

It will close a float line in Halmstad, Sweden, which employs 230 people. It said it was closing the line as part of its restructuring programme. The closure of the float line is expected at the end of
March 2013.

It will also close a float line in Porto Marghera, Venice, Italy which employs 140 people.

The furnace is currently in a state of hot-hold, as announced in July 2012, due to the current conditions within the European architectural market. The line will close in January 2013.

Tariq Glass in collaboration with Yaohua Glass, China have set up Pakistan’s largest float glass plant with a capacity of 550 tons per day.

Apart from plain and coloured glass it will also have a manufacturing facility for producing mirror glass.

According to the companies, the plant will not only meet the entire domestic requirement for float glass but will be exporting to more than 30 countries around the world.

Turkish glass processor Duzce Cam is to install a second float glass line.

The company, a subsidiary of Okan Group, signed a contract with Fives Stein at the glasstec event in Dusseldorf, Germany this week.

The new float glass line has a capacity of 800 tonnes per day and will incorporate an LEM furnace, designed to meet the challenge of ever-increasing energy prices.

Fives Stein was selected as the supplier of Duzce Cam’s first float line which started up in 2010 after a contract signing in 2007.

 That float line consisted of the glass manufacturing line, comprised of the batch plant, float furnace, tin bath and annealing lehr.

چكيده:

اژكتورها تا حدودي داراي قيمت هايي كمتر و هزينه نگهداري كمي نسبت به پمپ ها دارند. معمولا اژكتورها داراي يك شيپوره همگرا- واگراي دروني دارند. كه در آن سيال رانده شده براي تغذيه و يك شيپوره بزرگ تر بيروني كه در آن گازها تخليه شده. ممنتم يا انرژي سيال خروجي از شيپوره راندني داراي سرعت بالا مي باشد. اما به ميزان جزئي اين سرعت به گازهاي در حال تخليه هم وارد مي شود. پس در اين صورت سرعت مخلوط ما كمتر از سرعت سيال وارد شده مي باشد. ولي در هر صورت سرعت آن بيشتر از سرعت صوت مي باشد. اجكتور نام عمومي جتي است كه قادر به تخليه محصولات مختلف گازي، محلول، و جامد (پودر، گرانول يا لجن) بوده كه داراي اسامي مختلفي مي باشد كه اساس آن تابع بودن از : پمپ جت خلاء، ترمو كمپرسور، اسكرابر گاز و غيره مي باشد. تئوري عملياتي براي انواع آن مشابه مي باشد.

شرح و توصيف:

يك اژكتورنوع ساده شده اي از يك پمپ خلاء يا يك كمپرسور خلاء مي باشد كه در آن هيچگونه پيستون ، شير يا روتور و ديگر اجزاي متحرك وجود ندارد . بخار با فشار بالا به محفظه بخار وارد مي شود و در حين عبور از نازل بخار منبسط شده و نازل را در يك سرعت بسيار بالايي ترك مي نمايد ، هوا ، گاز يا بخار مخلوط مايع از طريق مايع و بوسيله نازل مكش وارد مي شود . در اينجا هواو ديگر مخلوط به وسيله بخار با سرعت بالا به ورودي ديفيوزر يا نازل ونتوري شكل وارد مي شود و سپس از انتهاي ديفيوزر خارج مي شود در ديفيوزر سرعت زياد و فشار كم سيال به سرعت كم و فشار زياد سيال تبديل مي شود كه از فشار مكش مخلوط هوا بيشتر و يا به عبارت بهتر هد سرعت مخلوط به فشار تبديل مي شود كه از فشار مكش مخلوط هوا بيشتر ولي از فشار بخار ورودي كمتر مي باشد .
استفاده از اژكتورها براي كاربرد هاي مناسب متكي بر فاكتور هاي زير مي باشد :

  1. فشار بخار : انتخاب اژكتور بر مبناي فشار مينيمم خط انتخاب شود .
  2. دماي آب : انتخاب بر مبناي دماي ماكزيمم آب مي باشد .
  3. دما و فشار مكش : احتياجات كلي فرآيند بايد در نظر گرفته شود ، انتخاب معمولا" به وسيله مينيمم فشار مكش مورد نياز (بالاترين خلاء) مي باشد .
  4. ظرفيت مورد نياز

خصوصيات اژكتورها (Features) :

  1. با مخلوط هاي بخار خورنده خشك يا مرطوب كار مي كنند .
  2. يك خلاء منطقي مورد نياز براي عمليات صنعتي را ايجاد مي نمايد .
  3. در سايز هاي مختلف براي ظرفيت هاي كم و زياد موجود مي باشند.
  4. استفاده از آن راحت و بازده آن خوب مي باشد .
  5. هيچ قسمت متحركي ندارند بنابراين هزينه تعمير آنها پايين و عمل آنها اگر خورندگي عامل مزاحمي نباشد يكسان و يكنواخت است .
  6. عمليات آنها ايمن تر و مي توان از اژكتور ها در محل گازهاي قابل انفجار استفاده نموده و خطر انفجار توسط جرقه را بر طرف ساخت .
  7. عمليات مداوم در محدوده طراحي دارند .
  8. هزينه هاي ساخت به طور نسبتا" خوبي نسبت به پمپ خلاء مكانيكي پايين و همچنين فضاي كمي را اشغال مي كنند .

انواع اژكتورها :

اجكتور مي تواند يك مرحله اي يا چند مرحله اي باشد . در استفاده از اژكتورها به صورت چند مرحله اي ممكن است از كندانسور استفاده شود . (Intercondenser) كه به سيستم اجازه مي دهد در فشار هاي مطلق پايين تر از يك مرحله اي عمل نمايد .

وقتي كه بار ورودي زيادي داشته باشيم به صورت موازي به كار برده مي شوند و يا به اين دليل كه اگر قسمتي از سيستم فرآيند دچار خرابي شد و نياز به تعمير داشت بدون ايجاد مشكل براي قسمت هاي خراب از ساير قسمت ها جدا مي شود . واحدهاي چند مرحله اي سري براي فشار هاي پايين مورد نياز مي باشد .

اژكتورها را نيز مي توان به 2 نوع اژكتور مايع و گاز نيز تقسيم كرد.
اژكتورها تا حدودي داراي قيمت هايي كمتر و هزينه نگهداري كمي نسبت به پمپ ها دارند. معمولا اژكتورها داراي يك شيپوره همگرا- واگراي دروني دارند. كه در آن سيال رانده شده براي تغذيه و يك شيپوره بزرگ تر بيروني كه در آن گازها تخليه شده. ممنتم يا انرژي سيال خروجي از شيپوره راندني داراي سرعت بالا مي باشد. اما به ميزان جزئي اين سرعت به گازهاي در حال تخليه هم وارد مي شود. پس در اين صورت سرعت مخلوط ما كمتر از سرعت سيال وارد شده مي باشد. ولي در هر صورت سرعت آن بيشتر از سرعت صوت مي باشد. پس در اين صورت شيپوره بزرگ تر بعنوان يك ديفيوزر همگرا- واگرا است كه در آن فشار افزايش يافته و سرعت صوت كاسته شده است.

ساختمان اژكتور و اساس كار آن:

اژكتور داراي ساختماني شيپوري (Venturi) است. هوا يا بخار فشرده از طريق يك لوله باريك (Nozzle) به سرعت جهش مانند  (Jet) به فضاي مخروطي شيپور هدايت مي شود.
مسلم است كه فشار خروجي اژكتور از ورودي آن بيشتر است و علت بر نگشتن گاز از خروجي اژكتور به ورودي آن سرعت زياد مخلوط آب و گازها در خرطومي (Diffuser) اژكتور است.

موارد كاربرد اژكتورها:

مي دانيم كه نقطه جوش تابع مستقيمي از فشار محيط است. به عبارت صحيح تر، فشار و نقطه جوش رابطه مستقيمي با هم دارند. لذا كاهش فشار محيط ، كاهش نقطه جوش را به همراه دارد. با توجه به اين عبارت اهميت اژكتور به عنوان تنها وسيله توليد خلاء در صنايع نفت و پتروشيمي مشخص مي شود از موارد استفاده اژكتور مي توان به دو مورد زير اشاره كرد:

  1. همان گونه كه مي دانيم هيدروكربن ها در درجه حرارت هاي بالا ممكن است شكسته شوند و يا با ذرات ديگر تركيب شوند، بنابراين براي تصفيه و تفكيك نفت خام در پالايشگاه ها از برج هاي خلاء استفاده مي شود به دليل اينكه در اينگونه برج ها درجه حرارت پايين آمده و قادر خواهيم بود بدون ازدياد درجه حرارت به ميزان زياد مواد را تفكيك و تصفيه كنيم.
  2. تخليه يك طرفه مايعات از ديگر استفاده هاي اژكتورهاست كه در اين حالت اژكتور همانند يك تلمبه عمل مي نمايد كه در صنعت به (Jet Pump) معروف است.

قطعات اصلي اژكتورها :

اژكتورها از لحاظ دسته و تقسيم بندي انواع متفاوتي ندارند و همواره يك اژكتور مي تواند از قطعات اصلي زير تشكيل شده باشد :

  1. سرپوش بازديد افشاننده
  2. صافي بخار
  3. سرپوش افشاننده
  4. ورودي بخار آب
  5. سرپوش ورودي
  6. ورودي
  7. افشاننده
  8. مبدل فشار به سرعت يا خرطومي
  9. خروجي

under PPG licensing agreements with the clients, HFT has been designing and building 3 new Oxy-Fuel 600 MTPD float glass production lines and 2 CVD online Low-E coating systems for its customers in China. These Oxy-Fuel float glass lines are the first in China to take advantage of the latest and state of art technologies developed by PPG and HFT, which have been proven successful in PPG operating plants for almost 12 years. PPG has also been operating the CVD since the 1990’s.

The first of these Oxy-Fuel float glass lines in China is to be commissioned in the summer of 2012, in Hainan, by AVIC (Hainan) Special Glass Materials Co., Ltd. The same company had commissioned its first CVD, which is also capable of TCO coating, in the spring of 2012, and expects to commission the 2nd unit later this year.

The other two Oxy-Fuel float lines are owned by Beijing Jinjing Wisdom Solar Materials Co., Ltd., in Daxing, Beijing. Jinjing expects to commission one in late 2012 and the other in 2013.

Oxy-Fuel float glass furnaces are best known for dramatically reducing NOx and CO2, reducing fuel consumption, improving glass quality and yields, facilitating process stability, and lowering maintenance costs. PPG and HFT are the only source of this proven technology.

On May 13 with local and state government officials opened construction of Guardian newest float glass manufacturing plant located in Krasny Sulin (Rostov region), Russia . The $220-million plant will be Guardian’s largest, producing 900 tons of glass per day, and will include a technologically advanced glass coater.

guardian Industries Corporation, a US-based manufacturer of float glass and fabricated glass products, has commenced construction work on new $220 million float glass manufacturing plant in Krasny Sulin in Russia.

The new facility will produce the company's energy-efficient ClimaGuard (residential) and SunGuard (commercial) glass products for construction of homes, offices, retail, health-care and other facilities. The new plant will be Guardian's largest, producing 900 tons of glass per day, and will include a technologically advanced glass coater. The manufacturing plant is anticipated to commence operations in the third quarter of 2012, and will initially create 300 new jobs. Guardian Industries Corporation manufactures and distributes float glass, fabricated glass products, fibreglass insulation, and other building materials for commercial, residential, and automotive markets. توليد و توزيع شيشه فلوت آينه و صادرات و واردات -کارخانه جدید در حال پروژه شیشه فلوت-شیشه فلوت کاویان

Kavian Float Glass is the fifth float line of KAVEH Glass Industrial Group located near Mashhad city North-Western part of Iran. The factory which is now under construction will produce float glass to supply the North –Western part of Iran and the neighbor countries.


This project, the same as other projects in Kaveh Glass Group is an EPC project performed by Petro Kaveh and the line is scheduled to start production on December 2012. The design and engineering phase is finished now (August 2010), the procurement of machinery is planned and the vendors will be selected during Glasstec 2010 exhibition in Dusseldorf.


The line is designed to be capable of delivering Maximum Flexibility of production line so that the factory will be able to produce Automotive Quality from small sizes ,unloaded with high speed stacker, to Jumbo sizes 366x600 cm

محمود عزیزیان در گفتگو با خبرنگار مهربا اشاره به محصولات متنوع این کارخانه تولید شیشه به روش فلوت اظهار داشت: محصولات صادراتی این کارخانه در سه بخش شیشه ساختمانی، صنعتی و خودرو و آینه شامل شیشه تخت شفاف، آینه شفاف، شیشه رفلکس، شیشه دو جداره و تینتد و رنگی در چهار رنگ همچنین سیلیس فرآوری و دانه بندی شده تولید می شود.

وی با بیان اینکه استاندارد محصولات از نوع JIS 3202 ژاپن برای شیشه خودرو و آینه و استاندارد DIN آلمان برای آینه است، افزود: ظرفیت مذاب این واحد تولیدی 900 تن در روز است و از این نظر در رتبه چهارمین کوره کشش دنیا قرار داریم.

عزیزیان از خرید معدن سیلیس در روستای میدان توت نیز خبر داد و بیان داشت: تمام ماده اولیه سیلیس از معدن اختصاصی کارخانه تامین می شود و 20 روز است که عملیات فرآوری سیلیس در این کارخانه آغاز شده است.

سهمیه آب فعلی کارخانه پاسخگوی میزان تولیدات نیست

وی گاز مصرفی پروژه را 10 هزار متر مکعب در ساعت عنوان کرد و گفت: در حال حاضر آب مصرفی از یک حلقه چاه حفر شده، تامین می شود که به هیچ عنوان جوابگوی نیاز این پروژه یعنی 22 لیترآب در ثانیه نیست.

عزیزیان با اشاره به بازدید اخیر قائم مقام وزیر صنعت و معدن از این کارخانه افزود: مشکل آب که در حال حاضر بزرگترین مشکل این واحد تولیدی است توسط مسئولان ارشد این وزارتخانه در حال پیگیری است و با تعامل انجام شده در زمینه رفع این مشکل عملیات تولید تا یک ماه آینده رسما راه اندازی خواهد شد.

مدیرعامل کارخانجات شیشه اردکان با اشاره به کیفیت استاندارد محصولات گفت: بازار مصرف محصولات به ترتیب اولویت هند، پاکستان، کشورهای خاورمیانه، آسیای میانه و اروپاست.

وی با بیان اینکه قیمت تمام شده هر متر مربع شیشه چهار میلیمتری 1.65 دلار است یادآور شد: قیمت تمام شده جهانی بیش از پنج دلار برای سبد تولید است که قابل مقایسه با قیمت محصولات این کارخانه نیست.

عزیزیان تکنولوژی به کار رفته در این واحد تولیدی را متعلق به لویانگ چین و پیلکینتوم انگلستان دانست و گفت: کشورهای تامین کننده تجهیزات 52 درصد اروپایی، 15 درصد ژاپنی، دو درصد آمریکایی و 31 درصد چینی هستند.

800 نفر در بزرگترین کارخانه شیشه خاورمیانه مشغول به کار می شوند

این کارآفرین نمونه با بیان اینکه کارخانجات شیشه اردکان زمینه اشتغال بیش از 800 نفر را از مدیریت تا کارگر ساده را فراهم کرده است، تاکید کرد: استفاده از نیروی کار باهوش و سختکوش یزدی و مدیران و متخصصان توانمند موجود برای تولیدی با کیفیت و ارزان از ابتدا دیدگاه و شعار بنیادین بانیان این پروژه عظیم صنعتی بوده است.

مدیرعامل کارخانجات شیشه اردکان ادامه داد: بهره مندی از مزیتهای خاص کشور و منطقه در تامین مواد اولیه، توان جوابگویی به هرگونه تقاضا، رقابت با تولیدکنندگان خارجی و صادرات بهترین محصولات به کشورهای متقاضی از اهداف مجموعه مدیران و مشاوران این پروژه بوده است.

650 میلیارد ریال برای راه اندازی کارخانه شیشه هزینه شد/ بازگشت سرمایه؛ سه ساله

عزیزیان پیشرفت فیزیکی پروژه را 98 درصد اعلام کرد و اظهار داشت: سرمایه ثبت شده کارخانه تاکنون 439 میلیارد ریال است و هزینه کل طرح یک هزار و 650 میلیارد ریال بوده است.

وی زمان برگشت سرمایه را 3 سال پس از آغاز تولید عنوان و تصریح کرد: کارخانجات شیشه اردکان به عنوان بزرگترین پروژه بخش خصوصی استان یزد تا یایان آبان ماه راه اندازی خواهد شد.

خرید چهار معدن در اطراف کارخانه

مدیرعامل کارخانجات شیشه اردکان مساحت زمین کارخانه را 75 هکتار دانست و گفت:معادن سیلیس، دولومیت، کربنات سدیم و فلدسپات در تملک کارخانه است و ظرفیت ذخیره هر کدام به ترتیب 100، هشت، 20 و دو میلیون تن است.

عزیزیان با بیان اینکه حمل و نقل محصولات از دو طریق ریلی و زمینی انجام خواهد شد یادآور شد: حمل و نقل ریلی توسط راه آهن سراسری با انشعاب داخل کارخانه و ترابری زمینی توسط خط ترانزیت حمل و نقل کوریدور شمال به جنوب کشور که از مقابل کارخانه می گذرد، صورت می گیرد.

Four months after beginning production, the Arabian United Float Glass Company is already looking at expansion. Mishaal Al Orayer talks to Gay Sutton about building a company through teamwork.
Located at Yanbu on the shores of the Red Sea, some 300km north of Jeddah, Saudi Arabia, the Arabian United Float Glass Company (UFG) is ideally positioned to supply top-quality glass into some of the most rapidly growing regions of the world. With a small port literally on its doorstep, and the major international port of Jeddah just down the road, UFG has a global export reach. In the four months since it began commercial operations, the company has not only been supplying high-quality glass to Saudi Arabia and the surrounding nations, but also exporting to Africa, Turkey, India and Singapore. And with opportunities arising in new markets such as solar panel glass, it is already examining the prospects for expansion.

The company was launched in June 2006 by the family-owned Meda Industrial Group (MIG). “We investigated the glass industry in Saudi Arabia and found that there was only one float glass plant, located in the eastern part of country. Further studies showed there was a good market for glass, and plenty of space for a second plant,” explains managing director Mishaal Al Orayer.
Once the studies were complete, MIG began looking for suitable investors. “We were fortunate enough to convince three publicly-listed companies of the concept, the study and the feasibility of the project.” The National Gas and Industrialisation Company, the National Shipping Company and the Saudi Real Estate Company were the first to make a commitment, quickly followed by Abdulrhman Al-Rashid & Sons Group, a global construction and real estate company. The four companies took a combined 70 per cent equity share in UFG, the remaining 30 per cent being owned by MIG and other business people.
With the financial backing sorted, things progressed quickly. UFG was formed in June 2006, and Shanghai Pony Technologies Company and International Technology Consultants were soon brought in to design the plant and the process. Construction began in March 2007 and just two years later, on 15 February 2009, the plant began primary production, followed by full commercial production in April.
The biggest challenge of the construction project, however, had been the supply of gas. “We had been promised a natural gas pipeline by 2008 but this was delayed, and is now scheduled for 2010. So rather than delay production, we made some modifications to the burners and set up and stabilised the equipment to run on liquid petroleum gas. It was a challenge, but it was successful.”
Setting up UFG has been a considerable achievement for Al Orayer, who had previously worked in a local glass company associated with two of the world’s largest float glass companies, Guardian Industries and Saint-Gobain. UFG is the first float glass company anywhere in the Middle East and Africa to be built and operated completely independently of the five global float glass giants.
The company also has another interesting achievement under its belt. Where many Saudi Arabian companies are usually set up with a 90 per cent expatriate workforce and just 10 per cent drawn from the local community, UFG’s workforce consists of 55 per cent local people and only 45 per cent expats. “We currently employ 300 people in total. Only fifty of those are experienced in the float process industry and only 135 are expatriates; the rest are local people who we have sent for training to plants in Indonesia,” Al Orayer explains. "We eventually expect to be able to reduce our manpower to 240, and we will continue training our staff in the skills they require to become world-class manufacturers.”
The manufacture of float glass requires knowledge, skills and world-class equipment. The process works on the basis of floating a layer of molten glass on a bath of molten tin. As the glass gradually cools it achieves an even thickness and a very smooth surface on both sides, producing high-quality glass that has many applications.
At Yanbu, the glass furnace covers an area of about 3,500 square metres and extends 15 metres both below and above ground. Molten glass inside the furnace is raised to an incredible 1600oC and then released under gravity into the tin bath, where it spreads out and floats on the molten tin. The glass is then slowly cooled to around 700oC. Rollers transfer the glass to the annealing lehr (a specialised, temperature-controlled kiln) where it is cooled to around 70oC under highly controlled conditions to prevent the glass from stressing or fracturing. Finally, the glass goes on to a state-of-the-art cutting line and is cut to size before being packaged and shipped or stored in the warehouse.
The plant consumes about 6.5 megawatts of power and has been equipped with its own hydrogen and nitrogen plants—these gases are injected into the tin bath to prevent oxidisation of the tin. The plant also has the back-up of emergency diesel generators to guarantee continued power supply should an interruption occur.
The equipment at Yanbu is state-of-the-art, and has been purchased from around the world. The furnace and tin bath is a world-class design with refractory and equipment from Europe and the US; the batch plant is from Lhati of Finland; the annealing lehr comes from CNUD of Belgium and the cutting line from Grenzebach of Germany.
Running at capacity, the plant will be capable of producing more than 600 tons of glass a day. The production figures show that some 10,000 tons were shipped in July—around two-thirds total capacity.
The marketing department is now looking to increase UFG’s share of the market, and is currently exploring opportunities in the rapidly growing solar panel sector. Meanwhile, UFG has plans for expansion of the production facilities, the company having acquired a further plot of land. “We’re seeking to expand the company with a second line which will manufacture coloured glass. And we’re also looking at installing a coating line alongside the first line.”
There are plenty of opportunities out there as the economy picks up, Al Orayer believes, and the company is well positioned to supply into all the major marketplaces. He explains that the excellent work relationship with the chairman and the board of directors has created a supportive environment, allowing the company to excel and making the project a true success.
“This is a great achievement for Saudi Arabia, for me personally and for our partners. We have built a company from nothing through team work,” he says. “I have played football all my life and I have tried to pass on to our staff the competitiveness and the team spirit of a football team. We have had problems but we’ve managed to overcome them through strong team spirit.”

Saint-Gobain Glass India (SGGI), the subsidiary of French glass major Saint-Gobain, is setting up an advanced architectural processing facility for solar control products at its facility near Chennai. The Rs 100-crore facility is likely to be ready by the end of this year.
 
“We see the evolution of glass industry in India as the buildings are going hi-tech and modern. Glass for solar control is crucial and important,” said Jean-Louis Beffa, chairman & CEO, Saint Gobain, at a press conference. Beffa was here recently on the occasion of the inauguration of its second float glass line at Sriperumbudur recently. The plant was inaugurated by Tamil Nadu chief minister J Jayalalithaa.
 
The company has set up the plant to boost its market share in the domestic flat glass industry and to tap the potential in the export market. Set up at a cost of Rs 800 crore, the second float glass unit will have a capacity to produce 850 tonnes of glass per day. About 50 per cent of its output will be exported.
 
With this new float line at its integrated manufacturing complex spread over 177 acres at Sriperumbudur, 46 km from Chennai on the Chennai-Bangalore highway, SGGI has the capacity to produce about 1,500 tonne of float glass per day.
 
In its second phase of expansion, the company has also set up two automotive glass processing lines, one for windshields for half-a-million cars and another for tempered glass for 1 million cars. As these plants are modular, the capacity of the plants can be scaled up to address the needs of 2 million cars. About 15 per cent of the output from this automotive plant would be exported.
 
B Santhanam, managing director, SGGI, said that company was targeting a market share of 36 per cent in 2006 when the domestic glass industry would be over Rs 2000 crore. Its market share was 26 per cent in 2005 when the size of the industry was about Rs 1,700 crore.
 
The total investment in the Sriperumbudur complex would be Rs 1,400 crore, making this integrated manufacturing facility the largest glass complex of Saint-Gobain family to be set up in the recent decades. The company has rechristened this complex as the World Glass Complex. Beffa said that the Indian experience for Saint-Gobain was the best among the Asian countries and SGGI would vital role for technological advancement in the Saint Gobain group, particularly in Asia. We will put India as a priority zone for further investments over the next five years, he added.

ساخت بزرگترين كارخانه شيشه خاورميانه در استان يزد با 95 درصد پيشرفت فيزيكي با بهره برداري از نخستين خط توليد بزرگترين كارخانه شيشه خاورميانه در شهرستان اردكان استان يزد، روزانه 900 تن انواع شيشه‌هاي فلوت ساده شفاف، رنگي، رفلكس و آيينه به توليدات شيشه كشور افزوده ميشود. به گزارش پايگاه اطلاع رساني وزارت صنايع و معادن ، بخش خصوصي براي ساخت اين كارخانه بيش از 165ميليارد تومان سرمايه‌ گذاري كرده است.
مديرعامل شركت سازنده كارخانه توليد شيشه در اردكان يزد گفت: اين كارخانه با هدف ايجاد كارخانجات اكتشاف و استخراج مواد معدني، توليد و فرآوري مواد اوليه شيشه، توليد انواع شيشه به روش فلوت از ضخامت 1.8 تا 19 ميليمتر و ايجاد كارگاه‌هاي توليدي صنايع جانبي شيشه در زميني به مساحت 75 هكتار در اردكان ساخته ميشود.
بگفته "محمود عزيزيان" عمليات ساختماني نخستين خط توليد اين شركت در سال 87 آغاز شد و هم‌‌ اكنون از پيشرفت فيزيكي 95 درصدي برخوردار است.
مديرعامل كارخانه شيشه اردكان گفت: با بهره برداري از آن ، براي يكهزار و 200 نفر فرصت شغلي ايجاد مي شود.
"عزيزيان" گفت: اين كارخانه با بهره گيري از آخرين فناوري و ماشين آلات روز دنيا كاملا مكانيزه است و با دارا بودن بزرگترين كوره توليد شيشه در خاورميانه و ارائه سبد كاملي از انواع محصولات شيشه تخت ، كاملترين مجتمع توليد شيشه در غرب آسيا خواهد بود.
محصولات اين كارخانه عبارتند از: شيشه فلوت ساده شفاف، رنگي، رفلكس، آئينه، لمينيت، دو جداره و نشكن و تنوع توليدات اين كارخانه يكي از وِيژگيهاي خاصي است كه آن را از ديگر كارخانجات مشابه متمايز ميكند

واحد شیشه فلوت سوریه

مساحت این كارخانه كه در شهرك صنعتی عدرا در 35 كیلومتری شمال دمشق احداث شده است؛ 145 هزار متر مربع و زیربنای آن 110 هزار متر مربع است كه با 225 هزار نفر روز كار در مدت حدود سه سال ساخته شده است.
ظرفیت تولید كارخانه ؛ 140 هزار تن شیشه فلوت با ضخامت 14 تا 20 میلیمتر است كه تا 180 هزار تن قابل افزایش است. 

تولیدات این كارخانه قرار است به كشورهای همسایه سوریه نیز صادر شود.
هزینه احداث كارخانه 125 میلیون دلار بوده و سبب ایجاد اشتغال برای 600 نفر شده است. 

منیره عامری، مدیرعامل این كارخانه گفت: مرحله دوم كارخانه با ظرفیت سالانه شش میلیون متر مربع آینه تا دو ماه دیگر به بهره برداری خواهد رسید.

Brussels, inaugurated the world's largest flat glass production line in Klin, in the Moscow region, on Sept. 23, according to a release. The €150 million investment is AGC's fourth float line in Russia and the second at this plant. The unit has a capacity of 1,000 tons/day, and will serve the growing demand for construction glass.

The line, which started up on May 24, produces high-quality glass in thicknesses ranging from 4 millimeters to 12 mm for subsequent incorporation into super-insulating glasses, laminated safety glasses and decorative glasses (mirrors and varnished glasses) at the Klin plant. Part of the plant's float glass output is sold as is -- via the AGC Glass Russia distribution network -- in the form of large sheets for processors.

"This new line is not only ideally situated but also enables us to step up the local presence of our products and services in the large consumer centers of Saint Petersburg and Moscow," said Vladimir Shigaev, general manager, AGC Glass Russia, in the release. "The timing is perfect now that demand on the Russian market is rising, especially for high value-added products for the construction sector."

Technical innovations deployed in this new facility also mean more efficient float glass production in terms of both quality and energy consumption. These innovations make it possible to quickly adjust supply in line with demand, representing a real competitive edge on the Russian market, the release states.

"In addition to bolstering our glass industry leadership in Eastern Europe, this investment in Russia's largest glassmaking facility clearly illustrates AGC Glass Europe's ambition to shape the future of glass with innovative solutions," said Jean-François Heris, president and CEO, AGC Glass Europe.

AGC Glass Russia has the following facilities:

  • Klin (Moscow region): two  float lines, and processing units for super-insulating glass, laminated glass, mirrors and varnished glass for use in the construction sector;
